SBGK and its founding ancestors have been in the service of Hungarian patents for 125 years

On 1 March, 2021 the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office organized an online jubilee gala on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of its establishment.

The history of our office also dates back quite a long time, as the father of Tibor Somlai, one of our founders, was Fülöp Schön, the first patent attorney to be appointed under the Act XXXVII of 1895 on Patents for Inventions. In a later Patent Gazette, which can also be seen in our article, he and his son, Tibor both were already on the list of patent attorneys.

However, our firm was officially established by recognized and prominent attorneys at law and patent attorneys - including Tibor Somlai - just in 1969, the predecessors and founders of our office have also been in the service of Hungarian patents for 125 years.

In 2019 we were in an exceptional position to be one of the first private legal service providers in Hungary to celebrate its 50th anniversary. You can watch a video about our anniversary, here.
